Principal's Corner

March 1, 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians,

February has come and gone so quickly, but what a fun-filled and extraordinary month it has been! We had a wonderful time with our candy gram and Valentine’s Day sale and the children enjoyed classroom parties and festivities. The Highlands County Fair was a success and we have new students enrolling due to that event. Our booth looked fantastic this year! Many of our children won at the Lake Placid Arts and Crafts County Fair and had a great time participating and getting recognition for their hard work.

Student Council has been meeting and they have plans in the works for the remainder of this year. Information on a pep rally and choosing a mascot is forthcoming! Pizza lunches and PTO events are a welcome addition to St. Catherine’s and we are so happy and grateful to all those that volunteer to make these events possible for our children. Cookies and Canvas will be coming up on March 22nd. The Diversity Dinner was a tremendous success and Picture Day was amazing. I can’t wait to see the pictures! We are trying to put a yearbook together in time for the end of the school year for purchase.

The Someone Special Dance was exactly that, truly special. I encourage you to go on our Facebook page and see the pictures and videos and like our page and follow us. Please give a testimonial about how you feel about the school for others to see. I have many parents telling me about the positive changes they see happening and I would love for you to share the many great things we are doing here at St. Catherine’s.

The TerraNova test will continue through March 5th and I am so pleased that none of our students were late or absent on testing days so far. Results will come out sometime in April. Keep it up!

March is a busy month and we will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday! The preschool has many fun events planned. Fr. Jose’s retreat is March 2nd and the new quarter starts March 5th. Ash Wednesday is March 6th and grades 1-7 only will be attending Mass. Pre-K and K will receive ashes in class. There is no Mass on Friday the 8th for students. The fish fry will be the 8th in the Parish Hall and our pep rally will take place on that day as well! More information to come on our pep rally shortly. Report Card conferences are also coming up this month and a paper will be going home for you to sign up for an appointment.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the conferences and at the awards ceremony on the 22nd. If you need to reach me for any reason or just to say hello, please call me at 863-385-7300 or email me at
