Rebecca Lazo

Religion Teacher

Ms. Rebecca Lazo serves as the Religion Teacher at St. Catherine Catholic School. She holds an Intermediate Catechist Certification in Catechesis, reflecting her strong foundation in Catholic formation and religious instruction. She currently teaches Religion to First, Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Grades, and she also plays a special role in preparing Second Grade students for their First Holy Communion.


Ms. Lazo joined St. Catherine Catholic School in 2017. Before becoming a full‑time member of the school faculty, she spent several years as a volunteer catechist in St. Catherine’s Religious Education Program before eventually serving as the Coordinator of Religious Education. A few years ago, she passed on her responsibilities as Coordinator in order to dedicate herself entirely to teaching at St. Catherine Catholic School. Her journey as a catechist began in 2008 at St. Michael’s Parish in Wauchula, where she first discovered her passion for religious education.


Before entering the field of Catholic education, Ms. Lazo worked for the State of Florida Department of Revenue and spent fourteen years in the banking industry. Her diverse background contributes to her well‑rounded approach to teaching and ministry.

Ms. Lazo is passionate about teaching Catholicism to all students, helping them to truly understand that they are worthy, loved, and created with purpose by God. She strives to make her classroom a place of faith, belonging, and encouragement.


In her free time, Ms. Lazo enjoys simple pleasures such as watching movies at home or in the theater to relax and unwind.
